Recently concluded world cup 2011

Recently concluded world cup 2011, must have not washed off from the minds of too many Indians. No doubt we have diverted to work and professions, just like back to work from office break. Similarly, the current scenario can be read out, but celebrations and parties are still going on, and why not? It is one of the India’s most glorious movement and achievement that have been carved after a wait of 28 years. The final match happened between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium on April 2, 2011 and happened to be Saturday, although there’s nothing prejudice of this day. The stadium was fully loaded with spectators, and supporters with no age bar. Both countries have their own fans and audiences that are present to boost their country teammates. The whole stadium was looking colorful with banners, posters, muskets, slogans in the support of their cricket team. What was amazing that to see is that whatever cricket pundits have prejudged about the match was seen something out of context. This match has been recorded and printed on the history pages, and will always remain a glorious part of Indian cricket.

IPL New Teams Tender Postponed

The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council has postponed the bidding process for the two new franchises following issues raised by many corporate houses related to some clauses. A clause requiring bidders to have a net worth of $1 billion (around Rs 4,600 crore) has been removed, and a $100 million (Rs 460 crore) deposit payable 24 hours before tenders are opened has been reduced to $10 million.

In another change, the winning bids will be expected to pay 10% of their bid within 48 hours, and an IPL council discretion to seek from the winning bidder 100% of the amount with a minimum time-frame has been dropped. All existing tenders, which were to be opened at 12 pm on Sunday, have been returned to the bidders

The new tender process will reopen on 9 March and opened on March 21. The bids will be opened at 11 am in Chennai same day, followed by the announcement of the winning bids.

IPL, which has turned out to be the most valuable cricket property in no time, is increasing the number of franchise teams from eight to ten from its fourth season. The minimum bid price has been fixed at $225 million (Rs 1,035 crore) per franchisee, against $50 million (over Rs 230 crore) in the maiden auction in 2008, when franchisees were required to submit just 10% of their bid amount as bank guarantee.
